Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre is proud to have a department dedicated to the health and safety of our children. The Child Injury Prevention Unit develops and promotes awareness campaigns addressing general and specific safety concerns for children aged 0-18 years.
Our team collaborates with various departments, including community health and wellness nurses, the cancer prevention nurse, and hospital managers, to provide the most up-to-date, evidence-based safety procedures. Some of our past initiatives include:
- Car seat safety clinics
- Babysitting training courses and the Home Alone program (in partnership with the Canadian Safety Council)
- Presentations on summer safety (sun, water, and bike safety)
- Anti-bullying campaigns
- Bus safety education, and more.
The goal of the Child Injury Prevention Unit is to raise awareness within the community about keeping children safe from serious physical and emotional harm.
