Family Medicine
Family doctors provide comprehensive and ongoing medical care for people across all ages, life stages, and conditions. This care includes all clinical domains, both acute and chronic, and all stages, from preventive to palliative care. At KMHC, we work closely with nurses, nutritionists, physiotherapists and more to provide the best care we can to our patients.
Family medicine is:
- Relationship- and patient-centered
- Community-adaptive
- Collaborative and continuous
Thousands of community members are registered with one of our family doctors as their primary doctor. Our family doctors also work as a team to offer time for semi-urgent care visits, open to all community members, to ensure ongoing care in the inpatient part of our hospital, and to support other community services (such as homecare and Public Health). We continually strive to improve our services and recruit more family physicians, with the goal of all community members being able access a family doctor.
